Session Description:
The focus of this session is to equip internal auditors at all levels with strategies and tactics to improve their level of influence and impact in their organizations.  Internal audit leaders often struggle with being perceived by senior leadership as the people who just find problems and they don’t have “A Seat At The Table” for major business decisions and initiatives.  This session will discuss proven strategies to build your influence and the quality of your business relationships to become a trusted business advisor and more effective audit leader.  Our success in the internal audit profession is on the other side of our comfort zone.  Join us for this session and take the uncomfortable action necessary to be resilient in uncertain times.

Speaker Bio(s):
Ron Skillens is the Senior Vice President, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Chief Compliance Officer at JPS Health Network, a large public hospital system in Texas.  His focus is leading the Compliance, Internal Audit, and ERM functions to provide oversight for the Board and the Senior Leadership Team.  Ron has over 25 years of professional experience as an auditor, healthcare executive, global consulting partner, and finance leader where he has successfully led international and domestic internal audit and enterprise risk initiatives resulting in value-added savings and strategic risk mitigation.  He has extensive experience advising executives and board members on audit and risk matters.  Ron is an active nonprofit board member for a charity that serves the homeless population as well as an Advisory Board member for the University of North Texas Ryan College of Business.  He is also an inspiring executive coach and featured speaker at regional and national conferences.
