These are challenging but exciting times for the healthcare industry and change is coming at a pace perhaps more rapid than ever before experienced. Healthcare organizations continue to struggle with effectively managing risk related to implementation and/or ongoing maintenance efforts associated with large EHR initiatives such as an Epic implementation/conversion. In this session, learn how Internal Audit can play a key role in effectively managing your organization's risk management efforts throughout this journey and how to identify and minimize the impact of the many risks you will undoubtedly face along the way. There is no wrong time for Internal Audit to be involved in these critical efforts.

Kevin Dunnahoo, CISSP, HCISPPProtiviti

Kevin is an Associate Director with Protiviti's national healthcare center of excellence and has more than eleven years of professional experience providing IT consulting and auditing services to his clients. Kevin is a key lead for Protiviti's Healthcare IT and Security services. Kevin has provided value to his clients through his insights and understanding of IT business processes, HIPAA and Information security regulations, business continuity, and IT audit. Kevin has co-authored various Protiviti thought leadership whitepapers specifically related to HIPAA compliance and enforcement and has also presented on Cybersecurity in Healthcare and HIPAA at various national and regional conferences across the US.

Bryan Beaudoin, PMP, CPHRM, CHFP - Protiviti

Bryan possesses nine years of healthcare strategy and consulting experience. Bryan specializes in health information management, project management, healthcare revenue cycle management, healthcare data analytics, and healthcare risk management. Bryan also has extensive experience in leading medical record audits across a wide variety of provider types. Bryan focuses on helping academic medical centers, skilled nursing centers, behavioral health facilities, inpatient rehabilitation, large health systems and community hospitals receive recognition for their quality of care, enhance their compliance with regulatory agencies, and to capture more appropriate revenue. Bryan has led projects in the areas of inpatient and professional services clinical documentation improvement and technology implementations. Bryan has also assisted health systems manage payor denials, CMS conditions of participation compliance, behavioral health revenue cycle optimization, post-acute care (IRF, HHA, and SNF) revenue cycle compliance, credentialing and contracting, as well as ICD-10 preparation. 

Joe O'Malley, CHC - Protiviti

Joe is a Manager in the Protiviti Chicago office and has nearly 10 years of healthcare finance and revenue cycle management experience, including experience in leading projects to maximize net revenue and significantly decrease revenue leakage through implementing best practices in clinical documentation, charge capture, denials management and accounts receivable reduction. Prior to joining Protiviti, Joe served as the Director of Revenue Integrity at Presence Health, formerly one of the largest Catholic Healthcare organizations in Illinois.
