We all too often use words like hackers, attacker, breach and risk without having a clear real-world understanding. In this session, you will walk through an actual attack and then examine the psychology of the attacker as well as the psychology of the defender. You will come to understand how our common understanding of these topics as well as the myths surrounding common security and risks controls not only lead to a false sense of security but also enable attackers to gain an upper hand. You will also learn of leading-edge concepts, such as the Deposition Test, Rational Response Theory and Rapid Response. This is a highly dynamic session that will have you reevaluating all you know in the world of cybersecurity and privacy.
In addition, the session will provide significant time for your questions.
Identify the use of rational response theory (RRT) by those responsible for the development of cybersecurity and privacy policies, enforcement or governance.
Explain how the attacker’s perspective is often misunderstood and how this creates a false sense of security from a policy and practice viewpoint.
Evaluate if current incident response methods truly reflect the current threat landscape and consider the need for clinical cybersecurity response.
